About

The exhibition celebrates twenty years since the Ceramics Diploma course at City Lit first started and presents new works by eleven alumni, all of whom have gone on to develop national and international careers in the field of ceramics and related disciplines. The course ethos is to promote originality, diversity, skill and intellectual rigour, and these qualities are evident in the variety of work produced by its graduates, a list which includes Nicolas Rena, Anne Brodie, Jane Blackman, David Rhys-Jones and Mimi Joung. Visitors can expect to see a surprising range of approaches featuring sculptural and installation work, prints and projections as well as some extraordinary ceramic vessels. Alongside the exhibition there will be a small display of work by the City Lit staff team. The exhibition is curated by Tessa Peters and will be accompanied by an essay by David Whiting. The show is a unique collaboration between one of London‘s most famous educational institutions and this leading ceramics gallery. The eleven exhibitors are: Jane Blackman, Anne Brodie, Victoria Burgher, Brigit Connolly, Thomas Gosebruch, Deirdre Hawthorne, Mimi Joung, Nicolas Rena, David Rhys-Jones, Naomi Schillinger & Glen Wild.
