There is a fantasy, and fictional self, through which we perceive our life. What exists when this is dispelled? Or is the illusion a fundamental part of living?
Already loaded with a scientific and industrial visual vocabulary, the technique of lampworking or scientific glass blowing, speaks of the rational, often seeking to dispel illusion.
Conversely when taken by the artist in to an abstract realm it provides a rich framework in which to make sculpture that wrestles with conceptual values, relating to the creation of temporality, transmission and self.
