While the label Dirty Realism was created to describe a certain kind of USA fiction, treating a humdrum reality in a pared-down language (don’t all rush at once), what we’re after is the exact opposite, work that distorts and upgrades the everyday. Or do we mean degrades?? These artists take pains to show us something of their view of the world. The results can vary: they can range from the unsettling to the downright upsetting.
