Artist Digital Development Course in VR and Interactive Media.

About

Are you an artist who would like to experiment with VR and immersive experiences as part of your developing practice? Places are now available for the Digital Artist Training and Development Course at QUAD.

This is a unique 10 week training and development course written and led by QUAD, built around our VR exhibition season in November 2018. The course starts on Monday 12th of November, running over 10 Monday daytimes with a break for Christmas. The course finishes with an exhibition of the participating artists work at QUAD on Sunday 3rd February 2019.

This course focuses on a range of VR and immersive practices from basic VR techniques including 360 photography and video, stereoscopic imagery, and google cardboard, to complex immersive interactive experiences involving computer game engines and sound.

The course will also offer sessions on developing your professional goals including career sustainability, writing about your practice, marketing, fundraising, participation, socially engaged practice and more.

We encourage artists of all backgrounds to apply whether you are a painter, sculptor, illustrator, sound artist, performer, dancer or any other art form this course aims to augment and enhance your current artistic practice. You do not need any digital skills to apply this course is aimed at non-digital artists and aims to enable experimentation and confidence building in digital practice.

Places are very limited, open to artists working in any medium and at any stage of their career. The course is part subsidised by QUAD, the fee to take part is £400 per artist.
