Dick Barnard. Fine Art Painter.
My paintings are based on musical ideas, and make use of concepts such as rhythm, harmony discord and variation using colour as the primary means. The works are normally related to or inspired by a particular piece of music. I often use textured or wooden surfaces and aim to exploit the properties of the paint medium to give the work complexity and subtlety.
Kim Logan. Mixed Media Collage Artist.
My practice explores the visual poetry created by the effects of time-worn ephemeral elements, and found artefacts. Fascinated by the contradiction of strength and fragility inhabiting the same space, and the relationship between the two, I have developed a layered style of work I call "A Visual Narrative", that is a combination of text and images constructing a visual language to build the narrative of a life, a moment, an experience.
Laura Pymer. Textile Artist.
The current focus of my textile practice is engaged with how the mind interacts with extreme emotion and moves me to use cloth to provide a protective layer where I can withdraw from worldly uncertainty. I am motivated by the interior necessity to explore the relationship between cloth and the forms, surfaces and space it creates. It is the liminal and unconscious communicative quality of the substance of fabric that I find so intriguing and strive to capture in my work.
