About

Over two days you will look at the essential specifications for print design. Effective colour reproduction is an important theme and you'll consider everything from image processing and scanning for output, including colour conversion, through to page layout, imposition schemes and the preparation of effective proofs. This course is a great opportunity to gain an appreciation of both traditional and digital printing processes and the way in which they can transform designs. The course allows you to produce work to specification and see the end results outputted to proof and press, using Heidelberg multi colour press. The skills and knowledge you will learn will be helpful for designers who are creating work for print. It will also be useful for account managers, either client or agency side, who are responsible for approving print work. After completing the course you will be able to: Design effectively for print by improving your image processing, page layout and proof preparation Offer your clients the highest professional standards in the most time-efficient way Develop an understanding of digital print production Upon completing this course you may be interested in completing a course in print appreciation or you may want to know more about digital design. Level This course has been created for practising designers with a working knowledge of page layout and Photoshop or anyone wanting to learn about printing practices from design to print. It is also suitable for people wanting to learn about printing practices from design to print. Tutors Alan Springett has 20 years experience in the printing industry in various pressroom management roles. He has a degree in print media management, a postgraduate certificate in teaching and learning, and an MBA. He has worked as a consultant in Ghana and India. He is now the senior lecturer for printing in the School of Media at LCC. Alan is external examiner in Malaysia.
