Deryn identifies with the ‘make do and mend’ ethos as a sustainable design strategy and nostalgic happiness, based on her own 1960’s-1970s childhood and a rainbow colour palette. Her newest body of work explores a sense of place, taking direct reference from geographical locations.
Textiles and related crafts have always been an important part of Deryn’s life and she is influenced by her own experiences, having learned skills from her grandmothers and mother.
