The Color-field formulas by painters Marit Geraldine Bostad (NO) and Emily Clementine (US), juxtaposed to photo abstractions in the works of the photographers Jamie Russom (US) and Lucia Fainzilber (AR).

About

New York City – September 5th, 2017 - Spotteart.com, online exhibition space for contemporary art & design introduces a new show titled “Depth Perception". Spotteart.com has been putting together internet-based art shows since its launch in early 2014. "Depth Perception" presents work by artists Marit Geraldine Bostad(NO), Emily Clementine (US), Jamie Russom (US) and Lucia Fainzilber (AR). Collections are available for purchase online from August 29nd, 2017.

Marit Geraldine Bostad is a color abstractionist based in Horten, Norway. Opening an atelier in a former navy base in 2015 offered the artist the exact space and environment to focus her practice on the color-field investigation. The artist refers to her process as "intuitive, rich in color, and passionate...it has a nerve".  Her paintings carry an emotionally-charged impetus. Describing her practice as a kind of therapy and a way for her mind to switch off, Bostad’s feelings about her work are highlighted by the lasting effect her paintings have on the viewer. Her painting series for Spotte focuses on evoking observation and memory through unknown and known meetings. There are echoes of people in her works, along with her perspectives as an observer. They represent the deconstruction of immaterial, a type of recycling that generates impulses as a new form.

Emily Clementine is a painter based in NYC. Having studied at Parsons, Harvard, and Boston College, she has an expansive foundation upon which she has developed her artistic career. In 2007, her earliest exhibition was accompanied by her first live auction sale; an event sponsored by the late Robert Rauschenberg. Recent exhibitions in Brussels, New York, and Miami, have all featured acrylic works, her primary medium of choice. She was recognized by World Art Dubai’s Emerging Artist Award as among the best of 2016 international emerging talent. Her series for Spotte is titled "Sentir" (french) meaning “to feel”. The work is based on the feeling of color and texture. Through the exploration of surface texture, this series integrates an array of mixed media with the use of a paintbrush, palette knife, and hand.

Apposing textural and color abstraction in the paintings of Marit Bostad and Emily Clementine, SpotteArt's current exhibition also presents processed abstract worlds in a photo medium by artists Jamie Russom and Lucia Fainzilber.

Jamie Russom is a California born, currently living and working in Los Angeles. She received her MFA in Studio Art from the Glasgow School of Art in 2016 and a BFA in Printmaking from California State University Long Beach in 2006. Her artwork has been exhibited throughout the US and Europe and is part of several special collections, including the La Fondazione Vittorio Leonesio in Italy and the Glasgow Science Centre in Scotland UK. The inspiration for Spotte's work came to the artist as part of a reoccurring dream. There was this heavy tow pulling her under the water, but always with a bright blue light shining from above. The darkness encased Russom like a capsule. Artist's vision was impaired and the surroundings appeared blurry, but simultaneously charged with this energetic buzz.

Lucia Fainzilber has studied theatre costume design and art direction for film in Buenos Aires. After graduating in 2008, she has worked as a colorist and color-correcting movies in post-production before moving to New York where she studied at the International Center of Photography. After finishing her studies at ICP, she assisted to various fashion photographers as well as pursuing her own editorial work for international magazines and campaigns for international and local brands. In November 2017 Lucia will exhibit at the Paris Photo in France. She was awarded the First Prize from the International Fine Art Photography Awards.
