Dr Michael Walls is a Senior Lecturer at UCL's Development Planning Unit (DPU) and Course Director for the MSc in Development Administration and Planning. He has twelve years' experience in senior management in the private sector and lectures in 'market-led approaches to development' (a module titled 'Society and Market: Private Agency for Development'). For seven years, he was responsible for teaching development management at DPU ('Development in Practice'). For some thirteen years, he has focused on the Somali Horn of Africa, and most particularly on the evolving political settlements in Somaliland and Puntland. He is currently leading a research project focused on developing a gendered perspective on Somaliland's political settlement.

Yusuf Sheikh Omar, obtained PhD from School of Social Science, La Trobe University, Australia, Masters of teaching Arabic as a second language from International Islamic University, Malaysia, and Bachelor of teaching from International University of Africa, Sudan. Yusuf is a researcher, poet and peace practitioner. Currently, he is a research associate at SOAS University of London. He is also a Global Advisor to Global Reconciliation based in Australia, as he is a director of ILAYSNABAD: Dialogue & Development Initiative (IDDI).

Khadijo M. Osman holds PhD from School of Pharmacy, UCL, masters of biomedicine from Birkbeck University of London and Bachelor of bioscience from De Montfort University, in Leicester. She is a Scientist. She is also a peace practitioner and board member of ILAYSNABAD.
