Death & the Maid: Cecily Brown at the Met + Italian Breakfast

For more than twenty-five years, Brown has transfixed viewers with sumptuous color, bravura brushwork, and complex narratives that relate to some of Western art history’s grandest and oldest themes.

In this rare Contemporary art exhibit at the Met — the first full-fledged museum survey of Brown’s work in New York —a group of some 50 paintings, drawings, sketchbooks, and monotypes explore the intertwined themes of still life, memento mori, mirroring, and vanitas—symbolic depictions of human vanity or life’s brevity.

Before our private, guided tour of the show with Art Historian, Helen Lee, we will mix and mingle over a delicious Italian brunch at Sant Ambroeus Madison.

This will be a great opportunity to learn more about and experience the work of an important contemporary abstract painter while also meeting fellow art-full New Yorkers.

The event is being hosted together with Internations and is gender inclusive and open to all with an interest in art, culture and community.

All tickets include museum admission (memberships are not valid due to the Met’s restrictions) as well as the private, guided tour.

Full experience tickets also include 1 entree from the breakfast menu, 1 non-alcoholic beverage, tax & tip at brunch. Any other additional food & drink must be paid separately on-site.
