The internationally respected Yorkshire potter, David Roberts, hand builds flawlessly constructed vessels. His forms act as a canvas for nature-inspired patterns, brought into being through the firing process of naked raku.
About
David Roberts has an international reputation as a leading practitioner in Raku ceramics. He has been involved with raku for over 40 years, developing a distinctive approach to working with the naked raku process, or "painting with smoke". Raku is one of the more direct and hands-on firing processes. Pieces are taken red hot from the kiln and forced to cool rapidly at air temperature. The process is a "tension between accident and control" explains David.
