David Rhys Jones, Spitalfields Revisited, Opening reception

The work of David Rhys Jones is based on journeys he has made, in the case of this exhibition, the area of Spitalfields has been explored. The imagery collected whilst making the journeys forms a documentation of the landscape and architecture, social cultures and activity within the space. The viewer's attention is brought to focus upon a selection of intriguing details of the surroundings, which together build a sense of narrative of this journey. The collected imagery is transferred onto a variety of mediums, most often ceramic blocks, but also onto silk and some work on paper.
