About

"Prentice was energetic, very gifted and intelligent. He made an enormous contribution to our recent art history." Jonathan Watkins, Director Ikon Gallery.

Following on the outstanding success of the first retrospective of the work of David Prentice this summer, 'A Window of a Life's Work Part II' presents over 100 works, including unseen paintings from the artist's estate. The show focuses on Prentice's City of London works, paintings inspired by the Scilly Isles, the Isle of Skye and The House that Jack Built.

David Prentice was a Midlands artist, co-founder of the Ikon Gallery, Birmingham and the creator of grid paintings and abstracts, as well as landscapes and cityscapes in watercolour, pastel and oil. His works are held in museum collections worldwide including the Victoria and Albert Museum, Ashmolean, the Museum of Modern Art New York, and the Arts Council England collection.
