About
David Pearce's studio & home are situated in a wooded valley overlooking Little Petherick Creek providing the inspiration for his new body of work.
A Cornishman born and bred, he walks in the footsteps of earlier generations of landscape painters; Roger Hilton, Christopher Wood and Joan Eardley to name a few.
Moody silt greys and thick, sludgy paintwork referencing the creeks mud flats, patchwork fields punctuated with arboreal forms. With a nervous tension and subtle palette the surface and mark making are as elemental as the narrative itself.
David's distinctive style and off-beat juxtapositions never fail to captivate the essence of the landscape he paints, getting under the tendrils, mud and earth, capturing the flavour and taste of Cornwall.
