Jill George Gallery is delighted to announce the latest solo exhibition by Edinburgh-based painter David Hosie. This show will present a series of new paintings and works on paper. The stillness of Hosie's paintings, together with their vibrant colours, gives each a surprising dramatic tension. The dreamlike, brightly painted figures that confront viewers have a fresh, youthful optimism at odds with the dark, sombre atmosphere that pervades each image. The metaphorical devices included in the compositions by the artist include aeroplanes and flowers, simply and expressively rendered but loaded with allusive power.
