An exhibition of rarely seen etchings by David Hockney includes images of friends, still life and dogs from 1998. And a new series of sixty etchings by celebrated pop artist Colin Self. Both Hockney and Self are revered for their draughtsmanship and working in collaboration with their lifelong friend and master printmaker Maurice Payne have produced prints of unparalleled graphic richness and beauty.
Maurice Payne, whose etching press and studio is on the 'Springs Fireplace Road in East Hampton, USA that has given its name to this new series of etching by Self. Between 1996 and 1998 Payne moved his press to Hockney 's studio and home in the Holywood Hills to work alongside Hockey. The result for both artists has been a creative explosion.
