Darren Baker Gallery is excited to announce a solo show of renowned hyperrealist artist and Gallery Director, Darren Baker, this coming May. Join us on Thursday 12th May for the Preview to celebrate his new collection of awe-inspiring photorealistic works.

About

Darren Baker Gallery is excited to announce a solo show by renowned hyperrealist artist and Gallery Director, Darren Baker, this coming May.

Darren Baker has become one of the UK’s most collectable artists since Princess Anne at Westminster Abbey unveiled his remarkable portrait of the Queen in 2011. Today, Baker holds many titles including Royal Artist, Official BT Artist to the 2012 Olympic Games, and Official Artist to the Professional Footballers’ Association, and has won several prizes including The Garrick Prize at Christies, London.

Darren Baker: The Collection 2016 celebrates the artist’s latest series of original oil paintings, pastels, pencil drawings, and limited edition prints at his gallery in W1 London. The exhibition will showcase a curated selection of Darren’s impressive portfolio of figurative work and portraiture, still life, interiors, cityscapes, dancers and animal portraiture.

The preview evening on Thursday the 12th May will take place at the Gallery on Charlotte Street between 6-8pm, and one lucky collector on the night will have the chance to win a small commission by Darren from an image of their choice.

Darren Baker was born in 1976 in Huddersfield, graduated in Art/Design from Bradford College in 1998, and started exhibiting in London soon after. Darren’s awe-inspiring photorealist style displays the influences of both the Dutch Masters and the contemporary realist school. The extraordinary depth of accuracy in his intricate detailing on large and small scales never fails to impress, and his work consistently causes the viewer to marvel at the artist’s talent for replicating such photo-like images. The Sunday Times described his work as "thrilling" and "virtuosic", and his work is increasingly sought after by art collectors from the UK, Europe, the USA, and Japan.

Darren Baker Gallery is a contemporary art space located in the heart of London’s Fitzrovia. Opened in summer 2014, the gallery serves as a creative platform for both established and emerging young artists working across a wide range of media. The gallery aims to break down the barrier between artist and collector by providing a service that is both accessible and transparent.

As part of the gallery’s commitment to support young talent, Darren Baker’s work is shown alongside that of emerging artists. The gallery maintains a busy exhibition calendar, which includes shows developed in collaboration with charitable organisations such as The Prince’s Trust, Great Ormond Street Hospital, and Cancer Research UK.
