About

Philipp Haverkamp is please to present Daniel Hauptmann's first solo exhibtion at the gallery.

Hauptmann, born 1980 in Hamburg, Germany as son of a Korean mother and a German father, did study at the artacademy in Hamburg in the class of Anselm Reyle. He currently lives and works in Berlin.

Daniel Hauptman combines everyday, often construction materials into well composed image carriers, which are well aware of their synthesis of lyrical, informal and expressive collage. An allusion to this can be found on the invitation card, from which the exhibition title Yamasaki, a combination of Yamaha and Kawasaki, is juxtaposed with a (mountainous) natural vista. Hauptmann combines different techniques, connects a multitude of narrative codes, and links a whole compendium of narrative styles into a single hybrid, material web.
