Higher Pictures is pleased to present Only In America by D’Angelo Lovell Williams. This is the artist’s second solo exhibition with the gallery.
For one day, two photographic works by Williams will occupy Higher Pictures to commemorate our country’s independence. Sensuous and unflinching, Gloryhole (2018) and Blow (2016) confront America’s most enduring values.
D’Angelo Lovell Williams (b. 1992) earned his BFA from Memphis College of Art in 2015 and his MFA from Syracuse University in 2018. Recent solo presentations include Higher Pictures (2017), Spark Contemporary Art Space, Syracuse (2016) and Beauty Kings (2015), SALTQuarters Gallery, Syracuse. His work was also on view in Gendered, The Mint Museum, Charlotte (2017) and Queering Space, Yale University Art Gallery, New Haven (2016). Williams lives and works in New York and is currently an artist in residence at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.
