Dance With Life is a new body of work from local artist Susan Aggarwal exploring expressive abstract painting. The collection is a very personal representation of the artist's very own experience of life, beauty, the natural world, and her artistic response to it. Inspired by nature, there are organic shapes and colour in abundance in each piece throughout the show. The marking and colours within the work reflect natural lines and explore a varied range: from stormy dark brown and blue palettes that are reminiscent of seascapes to bright yellow and reds that evoke an exotic jungle setting. Where Iconic expressionism is explored, an invisible yet palpable central form heavily dominates many pieces. Each of Susan's works evokes the gesture and form of the natural world it references but remains independent of the original source. Her complimentary mix of primary and secondary colour lends exuberance to the overall action in her works creating an Impressionism that, in the true sense of abstract image painting, takes effect through colour and form. This exhibition is a massive departure from Susan's earlier work and is testament to a real development in the artist's oeuvre. 'Dance With Life' serves up a satisfying and accomplished collection of contemporary abstract painting.
