"Dance of a Humble Atheist" is a multidisciplinary installation by visual artist Toh Hun Ping, who is known for his creative and experimental use of materials in the creation of his video work. The installation will feature Toh’s latest video work, marking a new stage in his artistic journey with the incorporation of ceramics into his practice. The work features painstaking, frame-by-frame animation and digital manipulation of hundreds of ceramic tiles he has handmade. Through Toh’s uniquely multifaceted approach, the installation is a creative expression of ideas related to death, faith, the possibility of the afterlife, the natural world, consciousness, and time.
The programme aims to engage audiences on different levels through a variety of events and activities, which includes a live music performance by musician Kelvin Tan (guitarist for "The Oddfellows" and lecturer at LASALLE College of the Arts), an experimental filmmaking workshop, an exploratory ceramic-making session and talk/panel discussion on Singapore experimental film.
