This exciting course has been specifically tailored to meet the needs of dance film makers, by focussing on key stages in planning, creating and producing a dance film. These workshops will be led by industry professionals currently working in dance film, who are keen to share their knowledge and experience with you and enrich you with valuable tools for you to use directly in your own practice.

FROM CONCEPT TO REALITY: PLANNING & FILMING ON LOCATION - 1ST JUNE, 6 - 9pm

Leading you through the process of developing an idea, establishing your team and preparing for filming.

CHOREOGRAPHY FOR THE SCREEN - 15TH JUNE, 6 - 9PM

Exposing the characteristics of choreographing for the camera and sharing technical knowledge for movement artists to efficiently work with films.

Led by Antoine Marc

CINEMATOGRAPHY & FRAMING FOR DANCE FILM - 29TH JUNE, 6 - 9PM

Exploring the eye of the camera and lighting, as well as composition for dance film.

Led by Gabriela Tropia

THE USE OF SOUND & MUSIC IN DANCE FILM - 16TH JULY, 6 - 9PM

Featured artist Alex Reuben will share with you his award winning film Routes-Dancing to New Orleans as part of an illustrated discussion on the use of sound and music as choreography in dance film.

EDITING FOR DANCE FILM - 23RD JULY, 6 - 9PM

Looking into particular techniques relevant to editing dance film, discussing pre-production, managing footage and editing software.

Led by Gabriela Tropia
