This multimedia exhibition takes visitors through more than ten years of European transformation captured by Reyes.
About
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Damaso Reyes has been a photographer, journalist and artist for over 15 years.
This multimedia exhibition takes visitors through more than ten years of European transformation captured by Reyes. For over a decade he has been documenting, primarily through still images, how Europe and its people are changing. His project, The Europeans, explores how European identity is evolving in the early 21st century.
Through images, sounds, interviews and words the audience hears and sees how the large scale historical changes Europe is experiencing is felt and lived by ordinary people. Identity and the impact that immigration and migration has had on it, is a special focus of the photographic based videos that are shown in one room. In the other we hear from Germans of African descent who talk about their lives and experiences in a two part audio documentary.
On the walls visitors will also see texts from articles Reyes has written throughout the years. When combined with the images and audio those attending this exhibition will be immersed in a conversation about how Europeans see themselves and each other.
