An Exhibition of Paintings & Screen Prints By Tom Berry at Deptford Does Art

About

Daily Rites examines modern humans and the ritualistic heart of our most apparently civilised behaviour. Celebratory, cynical and magical in equal measure, Tom Berry depicts our daily tasks, and the primal feelings which underpin them.

In this series of images the mundane is presented alongside the fantastical; City workers do
battle with mobile phones and people ride on top of their domestic animals as if minor deities from a mythical tale.

Bold silhouette form and vibrant colour and are explored in this collection, and each design is presented in two forms: Largely monochrome paintings on wood panel, and vividly coloured screen prints.

About Tom Berry

Tom Berry works as an artist and illustrator and presents two contrasting styles in tandem:
His line work is largely monochrome,
hand drawn and highly detailed, whilst his screen printed work uses solid silhouette shapes to cre-
ate vivid and colourful pieces. Tom Berry exhibits
in a number of shops and galleries and has worked for many publishers, including Faber and Faber and Hodder & Stoughton. Most recently he was commis- sioned by Searcys to create menu illustrations for their Gherkin restaurant.
