Dag Erik Due's abstract works develop through an ambiguity in their surfaces and gestural positionings to form separate entities, communicating and connecting through their differences.
About
Dag Erik's work looks at differences and relationships in variations of abstract language, utilising contrasting properties of materiality, mediation and gestural approaches to form a body of works that can be as a world of contradiction and connections rather than a singular argument.
A group of these works uses plastics that diffuse the painting behind the surface, creating a blurring andblending of colour and shape, appearing as an object somewhere between a screen and painting. Another work uses a layered mesh fabric, creating a moire pattern that and changes with the viewers perspective also acting as the ground for the painted form.
