Working across installation, sculpture and video, Perry develops a sprawling network of references, drawing inspiration from personal experience, the testimony of others and the accelerated nature of our hyper-technological times.
Perry will be joined in conversation by DACS Director of Business Development Mark Waugh, to discuss her experiences of the pandemic, the role of trauma in her work and her changing relationship with social media.
About Hannah Perry
Hannah Perry (1984) is a British visual artist. Her works explore the complexities of our inner worlds, as well as everyday physical and mental endurance. In a recent series of collaborations with leading contemporary musicians, dancers and young people, she produced a large scale, dynamic audio-visual installation utilising sound, technology, dance, spoken word, printmaking and 360-video, to engage with issues relating to our individual and collective welfare.
Hannah’s practice covers themes of mental health, grief, youth, social class, erotic discourse, and taste, while portraying the physical representation of resilience, the necessity of our interdependence and our capacity to share.
Her work has been shown at Over the Influence, LA, Arsenal Contemporary, Montreal, ICA Off-Site, London, Zabludowicz Collection, London, MOMA Warsaw, Poland, Royal Academy of Arts, London, and Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam. Recent solo exhibitions include: 'Gush', Somerset House, London and 'Rage Fluids', Kuenstlerhaus, Graz, AT.
