A great introduction to cyanotype printing in a fun and supportive environment.
About
Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that produces a cyan blue image when paper, which is made light sensitive is exposed to ultraviolet light. It is a wonderfully flexible, simple and rewarding print process!
On this one day workshop you will learn how to mix the chemicals, coat your paper and expose once dry to make your own cyanotype prints. We will ask for a photograph in advance which we'll make into a negative ahead of time allowing you to print your own photographic cyanotype print. We'll also looks at ways it is possible to create your own low-fi ‘negative’ by drawing and marking onto tracing paper.
You will have lots of time and space to make work and experiment with the range of styles cyanotype printing allows and will leave with a handful of your own prints at the end of the session.
Helen will demonstrate each stage and will be close by to offer any advice and support throughout the day.
Helen Dixon is a Bainbridge Print Studio artist and practicing fine artist predominantly working with cyanotype.
