Join exhibition curator Tanya Bentley as she introduces this year’s Portrait Award as the Herbert Smith Freehills Portrait Award makes a welcome return to the Gallery.
About
Tanya Bentley will share how the prestigious competition, which is open to all to enter, showcases the very best in contemporary portrait painting.
Tanya will share behind the scenes content from this year’s award, offering insight into how a portrait competition works and is ultimately exhibited, how the judges make their selection, and specific themes that have come forward in the works for this year’s exhibition.
Tanya Bentley is the Gallery’s Contemporary Curator. As well as curating exhibitions and displays at the NPG, Tanya looks after the Gallery’s large collection of contemporary portraits (2000 – now) and acquires and commissions new works for the Collection.
