Residual: Traces of the Black Body curator Christine Eyene will introduce the concept behind the exhibition, presented as part of FORMAT International Photography Festival.
About
Responding to the festival's theme of EVIDENCE, Eyene will look at some of the issues raised by representations of Africa and the black body in the West. She will discuss how colonial explorations that generated ethnographic and anthropological imagery in the name of science, also served as visual testimonies, or evidence, used to sustain misconceptions about Africa.
In collaboration with Making Histories Visible Project, University of Central Lancashire.
