Curator Talk: Contemporary Art in Japan

About

Eight highly respected Japanese curators of contemporary art will visit the Japan Foundation to give an insight into the contemporary art scene in Japan, as part of a curatorial tour of the UK organised by the British Council. Through a series of illustrative presentations, they will each talk about the activities of the museums they represent and their experience in contemporary art projects in various regions of Japan. This unmissable event will be a great opportunity to meet and hear from a gathering of some of the curators who have contributed to the momentum in the Japanese contemporary art scene in recent years; offering a platform for the exchange of ideas and opinions between the UK and Japan. Participating curators: Eriko Kimura - Yokohama Museum of Art Akiko Sakamoto - Contemporary Art Museum, Kumamoto Shigemi Takahashi - Aomori Museum of Art Chieko Kitade - 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa Katsuo Suzuki - The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo Yuka Uematsu - The National Museum of Art, Osaka Natsumi Araki - Mori Art Museum Mizuki Endo - Independent Curator This event is co-organised by the Japan Foundation and the British Council. BOOKING This event is free to attend but booking is essential. To reserve a place, please email your name and the title of the event you would like to attend to event@jpf.org.uk.
