curated by_vienna 2017: image/reads/text. Language in Contemporary Art
15 Sep 2017 – 14 Oct 2017
Wirtschaftsagentur Wien
Vienna, Austria
The discourse on painting strictly separates images from texts, usually ignoring the interconnectedness of both levels. Instead of affirming a hierarchy of painting over theory, the exhibition “The Happy Fainting of Painting #2” proposes that paintings and texts meet on an equal footing. The essayistic group show structured around the grid takes up the discussion initiated by the homonymous publication (Walther König, 2014) and group show at Zwinger (Berlin 2012) to host a lively dispute about and within painting.
