Connect10 is a national programme to allow galleries and museums across the UK the opportunity to host world-class contemporary artists during the annual Museums at Night event.
In May 2013, 20-21 Visual Arts Centre were selected by public vote to be one of 10 winning venues and hosted artist duo Cullinan Richards for a one night only event featuring large-scale installations, interventions, live boxing, go-go dancing and chips!
The Ultimate Materiality of Women Part III is a follow-up project in which the artists have worked with local video production studio Know Media to create a new moving-image artwork from over 9000 photographs taken at the event. This will be presented alongside documentary footage of the event and sculptural works produced by the artists to accompany the project.
Charlotte Cullinan and Jeanine Richards have worked together since 1997, working primarily within the area of painting, painting's relationship to the structure of the exhibition, and painting as performance. They have instigated and participated in numerous projects including exhibitions, performances and events at the Hayward Gallery, Whitechapel Gallery, Whitney Biennial, Eastside Projects, John Moores Painting Prize and British Art Show 7.
