About

Running alongside the CUBEOpen 09 exhibition, CUBELab 09 will act as a platform to support last year's winner Andrea Booker. Booker's work concerns themes of social identity and its relationship to our urban environment. Using reclaimed and abandoned commercial signage salvaged from buildings in Manchester and Salford, Booker supplants the original and intended message but retains its connotative one and in doing so makes a statement about social identity and displacement. Booker will use the gallery to show current work alongside visualisations of work she proposes to site in Manchester in 2010.
