About
In “Crying in millennial”, Marta Valledor furthers her investigation around printmaking techniques and the possibilities of the drawing.
Marta places the practice of drawing in the centre of her artistic investigation, applying it to graphic techniques and exploring the limits of traditional printmaking. Portraits, still-lives, or the everyday, are recurrent themes that Marta addresses from different points of view and supports, from paper to installation.
“Millennial by the skin of my teeth and aware of the lack of perspective, I declare that I am scared”, appealing to this universal sentiment which she believes unites us as of late, and separating us at the same time as we suffer individually. In one of the pieces in the show, Marta elevates and glows fear up, displaying it mirrored and at a certain height. The mirror or reversed drawing has an important role in the show. This method, typical of how the printing matrix is created, is applied to drawings made in front of a mirror, in a message written in reverse, or in a horse running towards the left. As if fear made us go backwards.
