Criminal Conspiracy- artworks by the degrees of freedom artists' collective
Degrees of Freedom (DOF) is an artist collective staging a one-off take over at the old police station in Deptford. Criminal Conspiracy 2014 is a series of site specific installations interrogating Britain's very own security state.
Ahmed Farooqui puts the audience in a cage within a cage to explore the elasticity of human rights in the security state; Graham Asker ponders two characters set a surveillance assignment who are in reality stalking each other; Rebecca Feiner's work explores deaths at the hands of the police and the cycle of the police investigating the police; and Esperanza Gomez-Carrera places a birthing chair as the centre piece of her work- an instrument of creation as well as subjection.
In addition to work of the DOF collective, there will be especially selected guest artists who have been invited to showcase their talent from film to performance as part of Criminal Conspiracy 2014.
