Property has been central to debates about freedom since the Enlightenment. The American and French Revolutions would influence succeeding generations of libertarians, socialists and anarchists in conceptualizing forms of ideal (non-) governance. Leonard considers some contemporary issues regarding property in new work focused on egoism, collectivism and appropriation.
