About

‘Tis the season to be jolly, and as ever Courvoisier is set to bring another revolutionary adventure to the chilly streets of London. So grab your overcoat, top hat and gloves and prepare for the coolest Christmas adventure, The Courvoisier Dickens Punch Tour, starting 29 November. Charles Dickens and Courvoisier have always had a well-established relationship. It was recently established that a great stash of cognac was discovered in Charles Dickens' estate, and he famously enjoyed the tipple, including cognac punch recipes in many of his literary works. To commemorate this, Courvoisier and Spark are hosting The Courvoisier Dickens Punch Tour this Christmas — the perfect festive excuse to explore London's hidden history, whether with friends, colleagues or your other half. The walk has been created and produced by Spark a new creative agency that sits between the cultural and commercial sector, run by former Head of Cultural Campaigns at the Mayor's Office, Mark Prescott. The hour-long tour will include a guided walk around the mysteries of Dickensian London and the chance to sample two Christmas Dickensian-themed Courvoisier punches (one hot and one cold). The tour begins at the Covent Garden Cocktail Club where participants will try one of Dickens' own cognac punch recipes, followed by a guided walk to key Dickensian London addresses, including The Olde Curiosity Shop (linked to the eponymous novel), St Clements Danes Church (described in the famous rhyme ‘Oranges and Lemons' and Dickens' Christmas Stories), the dark hallows of Bow Street Magistrates Court (which featured heavily in Oliver Twist) and many more. The tour ends with a warm Courvoisier punch at the Covent Garden Cocktail Club, the Smoking Bishop — a punch taken from the final scene in Dickens' A Christmas Carol. The Courvoisier Dickens Punch Tour will run every day from 29 November — 19 December, weekdays from 7pm and weekends at 2pm, 3.30pm and 5pm (1 hour duration). Tickets cost £10.00 (includes punch and guided walk) and are available to purchase from http://courvoisierdickens.eventbrite.com
