COUNTY LINES David Bray Mark Melvin 08.11.19 7pm
The Ben Oakley Gallery has worked closely with both artists over its illustrious 10 years situated in Greenwich Market London SE10. David Bray has gone through a transformation from fine art Illustration to his current delivery. Since moving to the Garden of England and picking up a watercolour set for the first time he has over the last three years produced some very accomplished Abstract Landscape paintings, as if he's been at it all his life. The depth, movement and mood that Bray manages to layer into his Turner esq vignettes are nothing short of breathtaking.
Mark Melvin has always loved the world of art, the old Masters and Renaissance painters but was propelled in the contemporary art world after watching a film of one of our most established Artists Ray Richardson on BBC2 many years ago. It was then Melvin had his epiphany and enough inspiration from that alone to begin a career in the art world. After teaching himself Melvin began to paint in oil of what was disappearing right in front of him, London Architecture including the hoardings and barriers as London got gentrified. His love of brutalism architecture has had Melvin running all over town for the last ten years to find remaining interesting buildings, sketching initially then taking them into the studio to paint.
We are proud to present them both in this two-man show with the opening drinks reception on the 8th November from 7pm.
