The Caribbean artist has been developing experimental musical instruments relating to architectural space and employing a means of composing that requires body and movement. She creates soundscapes that originate from spoken word pieces that she reads out like a personal journey through her work, using explorative methods as a means of reflection and revelation. The presentation promises a glimpse into her foray into the realm of vulnerable spaces, visual poetry and openhearted narrative.

A catalog documenting Croes’ preoccupations and process throughout the last three months will be published and available for the first time this evening.

About Natusha Croes:
Blending elements of performance, choreography, multimedia, sound, Croes’ current work evokes a very personal, poetic fragmented narrative. 
Born in 1991 in Oranjestad, Aruba, Natusha Croes is a member of a family of musicians. After participating in many cultural events as a child growing up, she quickly gained a curiosity for other forms of expression and gradually developed her practice in the field of visual arts. She went on to study at Gerrit Rietveld Academy, the Netherlands, in the department of audio visual arts, as well as at Ateliers ‘89, Aruba.
Having returned back to Aruba, Croes participated in a number of exhibitions, conceptualized creative events as well as performed in different music venues in order to bring forward the practice of performance in contemporary art.
During her residency at SomoS, the artist formed a new performative identity that enabled her in developing narratives surrounding her current fascination with ready-made instruments.
