The Corrine Edwards Collection showcases ceramic pieces mounted on the wall, monoprints and mixed-media pieces created by this multifaceted and inventive artist. Referencing ancient cultures, symbols and talismans this is a fascinating and highly tactile show.
About
Corrine Edwards brings to her work a deep knowledge and interest in cultures, symbols, texture, materials and forms. She creates myriad sculptures, prints and mixed-media pieces in a wide variety of materials and found objects.
Among the works by Corrine in this exhibition are wax rubbings of Ghanaian brass castings; Corrine's works on paper involve cutting, dyeing and rubbing with chalk to emphasise the textured paper.
Larger ceramic pieces by this multi-faceted artist are incised or painted with oxides. These works are hand built with stoneware clay, then brushed with oxides and double dipped in a distinctive signature dry sky-blue glaze prior to firing.
An intriguing and immersive collection of objects and images draws the viewer into a different place and time in this unique and immersive showcase at our Gabriel's Wharf Gallery.
