Correspond brings together painters from studios across the UK and internationally. They have all participated in the Turps Correspondence Course; an intensive, online, critical dialogue developed between each artist and a painter-mentor.

About

The studio remains central to contemporary painting practice; a site of experimentation and research. Online dialogues have offered possibilities of interconnectedness, sharing of images and focussed writing with hands-on studio practice: possibilities of the painted, material surface corresponding with the virtual; the handmade with the digital. Concerns of form, colour, facture and theory correspond with jpeg, emails and shared image platforms. while questioning modes of dialogue and collaboration, relationships have emerged among corresponding painters and their paintings.

The first Correspond was at Turps Art School's London studios in September 2014. Correspond opens at Artworks, Halifax in February 2016 and will go on to show in London, Liverpool and Winchester.
