About
This online panel discussion brings together four architects from the world-class architectural firms Atelier Bow-Wow and MVRDV whose designs for dachshunds and beagles are featured in the exhibition and open-source network Architecture for Dogs.
Chaired by Rosa Rogina, London Festival of Architecture’s Programme Director, the discussion takes these playful contributions to Architecture of Dogs as a launchpad to explore each architect’s wider body of work and vision.
There is an opportunity for selected registered guests to ask questions to the speakers during this live online event.
The exhibition Architecture for Dogs was originally on display in the Japan House London Gallery from 19 September 2020 until January 2021. Experience it digitally using the 3D Virtual Tour on our website.
About the Speakers:
Tsukamoto Yoshiharu and Kajima Momoyo (Atelier Bow-Wow)
Tsukamoto Yoshiharu and Kajima Momoyo founded Atelier Bow-Wow in Tokyo in 1992. The practice has designed and built houses as well as public and commercial buildings in Tokyo, Europe and the USA. Its urban research studies led to the experimental project 'micro-public-space', a new concept of public space, which has been exhibited around the world. Atelier Bow-Wow contributed a design for a smooth-haired dachshund to Architecture for Dogs.
Elien Deceuninck and Mick van Gemert (MVRDV)
Creators of the ‘Beagle House’, Elien Deceuninck and Mick van Gemert are respectively Project Leader and Interior Architect, and Associate and Architect, at MVRDV, the Dutch-based architectural firm founded in 1993 by Winy Maas, Jacob van Rijs and Nathalie de Vries.
Elien Deceuninck is responsible for the conceptualization of numerous Studio EU projects at various scales, ranging from concept stores and small-scale exhibitions to large-scale cultural projects such as the Boijmans van Beuningen Depot in Rotterdam. Mick van Gemert leads the work of design teams in MVRDV’s Americas Studio. He is currently Design Lead for Radio Tower NY in New York City and Mission Rock in San Francisco.
