About
The Brick Lane Gallery is proud to present the latest CONTEMPORARY PAINTING which opens this new year with a vast collection of abstract and figurative paintings by talented international artists. We are happy to see return the new works of Lara Julian, whose abstract paintings with strong and vivid colours convey emotion and energy. Often working on two paintings at the same time, her creative process is open to changes and freed of restrictions, ‘I don’t work to formula, I stay instinctive’ just as Tonia Sagoo’s approach. Her works, also abstract, bring to life images and emotions that she believes already exist in space and time. Colours and lines are primary elements in most abstract paintings and crucial to some of the artists exhibiting, as for Maria Tzoutzouli who said ‘I discover myself in the world of colours and the beauty of art’. This exhibition also includes figurative works, as Tamer Yilmaz’s portraits and Jess Goodacre’s paintings playing with the concept of duality and identity. Miguel Angel Craviotto presents a selection of colourful works that include images from pop culture and iconic visual reference of London city. An interesting approach to painting can be seen in Dolors Simó’s expressive and humorous pieces, definitely influenced by her skills as ceramist and mosaic artist. Similarly playful, but different in form, Hayley Jensen canvases present organic shapes and colourful forms that almost seem moving at times.
