Contemporary Painting aims to show the diversity in which paint can be used to communicate and create dialogues between an artwork and the viewer.
About
Through an explosion of colour and intensity, these artists acknowledge the importance and variety of painting and offer a window into its constant evolution, emphasizing its place within contemporary art.
Iwona Szpak presents in this show three of the twenty-five art works from her series “Energy Composition”. The series is characterized by the rhythm, multiplication of forms, self-luminous colours and the power of positive energy. She has created a cycle that affects different senses of the viewer, presenting it in 2 different kinds of light, one natural, and the other ultra-violet. Depending on the light, the appearance of the paintings change from colourful into transparent blue lights. Her painting style is related to Geometric abstraction, Hardedge painting and Op Art. Focusing in the emotional Paul Wonzencroft’s vibrant and colourful work is mainly about conflict – actual and emotional. He is inspired by movements and elements – air, water and sound – which lend themselves to his style of painting. His paintings are from his imagination, colours are decided upon purely in the moment. He likes to think of his work as from the outside… or maybe from the inside out, depending on the viewers’ perspective
You are warmly welcome to join us for a drink with the artists at the opening night of CONTEMPORARY PAINTING at The Brick Lane Gallery open from 6pm-8.30pm on Wednesday 28th October 2015.
