As a part of London Craft Week Peckham Craft Weekend is hosting a Contemporary Craft Showcase along with a series of workshops that run from 10th -13th of May in Copeland Gallery, Peckham.
The show celebrates more than forty of the most exciting names in craft today. Mixed media makers such as Hannah Bould, Christabel Balfour, Sofia Salazar and the brilliant Stitch School are all taking part in the exhibition, along with a collection of work by Intoart’s artists and makers. All works are displayed in thoughtful still-life format, mixing medias and giving visitors the chance to imagine how objects would work in their own homes. Join us in celebrating Craft today with an exhibition, workshops, cafe and curated shop.
Over the weekend visitors will have the opportunity to add to the ‘The Peckham Supper Cloth’ a huge communal cloth, hosted by Stitch School, by sitting down and adding their own stitches. The Supper Cloth aims to bring people together through stitching and slow conversation around the large needlework table stretched with linen.
Peckham Craft Weekend has an exciting and engaging programme of workshops for all ages and abilities, taking place with the backdrop of the exhibition. Freya Bramble-Carter of the BBC’s Great Pottery Throw Down will be hosting a Slab built jug workshop suitable for all ages. Mila Harris-Mussi textile artist will be will explore the process of dying with the plant dye indigo and there will be a series of free tapestry weaving workshops led by Peckham Craft Weekend makers.
