Contemporary Craft by Yukihiro Akama

 Yukihiro creates intricate miniature wooden houses based on the design vernacular of buildings from Asia and the UK, each one skilfully carved from a single piece of oak, walnut, sapele, iroko or maple. Akama studied Architecture at Tohoku University of Art and Design, in Yamagata Japan, and began his career as an architect. He has exhibited his work in the UK and internationally, and in 2024 a solo exhibition of his work was presented at Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
