About
The artists are:
Lauren Smith:
My practice is my voice. I capture my thoughts through video in order to understand my own place within the world. Addressing underlying issues around identity, race, class & power, extracting symbolic representations of cultures and people.
Sophie Baker:
I predominantly work in perfromance and live art where the work plays on oppositions and intersections of philosophy and science, always grounded in a feminist stance. This stance explores issues of power imblance, intimacy, love and the dynamics of human encounters and relationships.
April Robinson:
The main practice of my work is sculpture and painting, exploring the fragility of natural materials. I choose these materials for their fragile, weak and decaying properties. The art is designed to show rememberance of the past and allows interactivity with the audience via human imprints or damage.
Sian Hancox:
Everything in life is a dance. The way we move in any situation is subconciously thought out and self-choreographed. I am interested in the performativity of everyday life and my work deals with issues surrounding dependency. Using videos, installations and performance, I recreate the performances I observe in my daily life.
Angela Thorpe:
Listening is an art. Hearing and listening are not the same. Sound is constantly pouring into our ears. Most of it goes unnoticed because we are not listening to it. This informs my work, collecting objects to re-purpose.
