About
German artist Severus Heyn (aka @queerartisan) illustrations are bold, bright and unapologetically Queer. His work subverts typical expectations of erotica by marrying it with a pop art style and suggests an underlying narrative that makes the viewer want to know more.
The images often explore ideas of taboo, sex conformity, intimacy, and rejection. They also highlight the social ideals of anatomy, often exaggerating the bodily proportions to show the absurdity of these expectations.
In this, his first solo exhibition, Heyn focuses on the idea of “the consumer” and the transactional nature of society. Although the illustrations depict Queer people, the themes are universally relevant to all who live within a modern consumerist world.
