About
Constellations
Mary Yacoob has been invited by Soho Housing Association to exhibit a series of drawings and prints to mark the launch of Great Pulteney Street gallery.
Constellations presents a range of artworks that are inspired by diagrams and maps. Experimenting with line, mark-making and geometry, the works transform primary source materials to create intricate and mysterious thought forms.
The exhibition includes cyanotype prints of fictional celestial maps, diagrammatic representations of interfaces between organic life and architecture, and blueprints for mysterious machinic landscapes. Other works redeploy diagrams sourced from textbooks about the hardware of sound technology to create rhythmic and organic formulations.
Mary Yacoob is an artist based in London. She exhibits widely and was the recipient of an Arts Council England award for Schema, an exhibition and publication in 2020. Solo exhibitions include BBNR gallery, the Hospital Club, Surgery Gallery and Five Years Gallery. Group shows include the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Laurent Delaye, Thames-Side Studios, Phoenix Art Space, Gallery 46, and Ruskin Gallery. Mary is a PhD researcher at the Slade, UCL, where she is investigating the creative potential of diagrams.
