About

Art at Lloyds' presents Conscientia: Latin American Consciousness, a group exhibition of colonial and contemporary painting and sculpture at the distinguished Lloyds Club in London, curated by Art and Lloyds' Programme Manager Lavinia Freitas and Braziliarty Founder Alicia Bastos. Conscientia offers a journey through Latin American consciousness and the historical, political and cultural developments that have shaped it. Three overlapping forms of consciousness permeate the exhibition: the spiritual, which underpins so much of Latin American existence; the rational, which shapes how life is governed; and the emotional, which drives self-expression. The exhibition includes a selection of colonial art and works by Alberto Lamback, Beatriz Milhazes, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Cipriano Martinez, Emilia Sunyer, Hen Coleman, Jakeline Londono, Laura Belém, Maria de Lima, Oscar Santillan, Pato Bosich, Pablo Ferreti, Raquel Schembri, Ricardo Rendón, Rivane Neuenschwander, Santiago Montoya and Yara Tupynambá. The artist Sylvia Morgado will do a performance at the Private View.
